The Root Co-Working — Builders Location Mark

The Root Co-Working — Builders Location Mark

A location mark for The Root Co-Working’s new Omaha space, named and shaped around the maker and construction history of the city’s Builders District.

Small project, tight brief: a name and mark for one location inside a growing brand family. When The Root opens a space, they build it from the community’s own roots — so “Builders” pulls directly from Omaha’s Builders District and its history of makers and construction, rather than a generic co-working look. Rahul Bhogal of Nothing Design Studio led creative direction; we crafted the mark and its lockup system for the client to carry across signage, print and social.

The brief

The Root builds every new space around the roots of the community it lands in — so a location mark for their Omaha space needed to come from somewhere specific, not a generic co-working look. “Builders” pulls directly from Omaha’s Builders District and its history of makers and construction.

A hand-built edge treatment gives the wordmark its worn, printed character.
Working from reference

Rahul Bhogal of Nothing Design Studio led creative direction, working from a reference set The Root brought to the table. We took it from there, crafting the final wordmark and its lockup system.

Out in the world

From there it was The Root’s to run with — onto building signage, cup sleeves, and the materials for their opening week in Omaha.
